NEED A HUG

Need a Hug actually began last year. It was one of those songs I started but never quite got around to finishing. Rather than leave it sitting unfinished, I went back to it this year, gave it the attention it deserved and finally completed the record.

It is also one of three unfinished songs from that period that I have decided to complete and release. The other two will follow over the next couple of months, and together they will be my final releases of 2026. After that, I am closing that chapter and putting my full focus into the new music I am creating for what comes next.

Sometimes an unfinished song just needs the right time to find its ending.

At its heart, Need a Hug is about seeing someone who is hurting and simply saying, you can count on me. About putting your arms around somebody, helping them back onto their feet and reminding them that love can sometimes speak louder than words.

There's romance in it, there's attraction, but underneath all of that is something simple — being there for another person when they need you.

One of the things I love about making music is taking an ordinary human feeling and building a whole song around it. Need a Hug has a warm groove, a little soul and a little MARROW flavour, but the heart of the record is reassurance, closeness and support.

Not every difficult moment needs a perfect answer. Sometimes your presence is the answer.
